Press TV – Sectarianism: A Sunni Shia debate

Dilly's Desk, Media

The Muslim world is undergoing its worst trauma in living memory. Across the Middle East Muslim is fighting Muslim. In some places the two major sects of Islam – Sunnism and Shiaism – are on the verge of civil war.

The aftershocks of these conflicts are being felt all over the world – even on the streets of Britain. Sectarianism is definitely gaining ground – even becoming mainstream. And as sectarian rhetoric continues to gain ground on the airwaves and on social media, there are fears that violence or worse could be an inevitability.

In this unique 30 minute programme we bring a Sunni Muslim and a Shia Muslim face-to-face to sit down together for a no-holds-barred but polite and respectful debate

This programme was produced by Roshan Muhammed Salih, filmed by Arash Toofan and edited by Pramod Sharma.
